Introduction The activities of the scientific association in the academic space as a multi-level phenomenon has an extensive theoretical literature in the form of individual actions to interactions in organizational structures as well as organizational structure independent of individuals. The purpose of this study is to investigate the functions and dysfunctions of STUDENT scientific ASSOCIATIONS at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Method The research is applied in terms of purpose and qualitative in terms of approach. The research method used to analyze and interpret the findings is thematic analysis and also descriptive-explanatory analysis. According to the careful analysis of the performance and conditions of the scientific ASSOCIATIONS of the university and to extract its strengths and weaknesses, in-depth interviews were designed with the cultural director, STUDENTs of the scientific ASSOCIATIONS and the administrative expert of the scientific association of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (24 interviews). In interpreting interviews with experts, the main purpose is to analyze and compare the content of experts' knowledge. Coding was done manually with tabulation. A total of 290 codes were extracted from the interview texts, of which 129 are related to the positive functions (advantages and strengths) and 161 are to the malfunctions (issues and problems (of the scientific ASSOCIATIONS. Finding The findings of the present study are discussed separately in three sections: benefits, problems and solutions to the problems of the scientific community. These findings showed that gaining dignities are always among the most important social privileges that stimulate individual and collective action that provide a form of volunteer participation and activity. There are many issues regarding the STUDENT scientific ASSOCIATIONS stemming from poor communication, poor structural supervision, poor management of officials, legal ambiguities and the personal interest of the members that have resulted in serious disregard for them. Conclusion By examining the history of scientific ASSOCIATIONS, the type of STUDENT activity has shifted from cultural and social concerns to individual concerns; So that STUDENTs' top priorities are to further evaluate the benefits of working according to self-interest, regardless of its overall goals and structural plans in scientific ASSOCIATIONS. The solutions offered are generally stated to solve the problems of the organization and the by-laws. Attention has been paid to the type and level of interaction and internal and external relations, such as creating interaction between the cultural director, the vice chancellor of the faculty and STUDENTs, using cyberspace in advertisements and information, creating a communication channel to transfer experiences of previous groups, etc. The main concern of many interviewees is financial issues; the solution to this problem is the tendency to financial self-sufficiency through the provision of financial sponsors, holding internal and external university programs, preparing a financial contract with the university and selling scientific research achievements.

ISLAMIC architecture as the symbol of identity, history and culture of this wide land has always been inspiring to many artists and architects. Therefore, restoring the values of the architecture as a valuable heritage depends on understanding of its different features and elements. In this regard, study on the ISLAMIC architecture can focus on its meaning, design principles and physical elements. As the audiences of this art mostly concern with its physical aspects, using these elements based on their mental images can lead us to create spaces and buildings that can transfer the same valuable meanings to future generations. With this aim, the research tried to achieve audiences’ images from ISLAMIC architecture by surveying their mental ASSOCIATIONS. Totally, 137 graduated of architecture participated and described their first mental ASSOCIATIONS and the first picture that they had in their mind about ISLAMIC architecture. The results indicates design approach, light and space, decorations, physical elements, monuments and temples, and spirituality; were the most important associated elements and decoration was the first element among other mentioned elements. Muslim STUDENTs were one of the active subjects during the movement of Imam Khomeini and advance its goals. Positions and hence the course of political and intellectual developments in the ISLAMIC institutions as the main artery of the STUDENT movement in those years, can be enlightening part of the ISLAMIC Revolution is on. Due to the ability of laclau and muffe discourse in explaining social phenomena, this theory as the theoretical framework is selected. Since in this theory are all issues and all understand discourse phenomena (as the text) and the corresponding rise in the bed with their external conditions (as background context) cases are being analyzed, Authors have tried to analyze the rise and fall of STUDENT movement in Iran after the revolution from establishment of the ISLAMIC Republic to the 1376 based on text and background.

Scientific ASSOCIATIONS as an important institution play significant roles in society. Therefore, the study of their functions, structures, and identification of influential factors on strengthening their functions are of significant. The statistical population of this study is all undergraduate STUDENTs of Ferdowsi University in the academic year of 2018-2019-totally 9977 STUDENTs. 150 STUDENTs were selected as the random sampling in this research. Finally, with the use of SPSS and the suitable tests, the data was analyzed. Descriptive results showed that the level of STUDENTs' social participation in scientific ASSOCIATIONS was low (40%). Furthermore, social trust, the efficiency of scientific ASSOCIATIONS, the benefits of association membership and the relationship of the ASSOCIATIONS with departments as the dependent variables were better. Plus, the inferential analysis demonstrated that there was a significant correlation between the dependent variables and the STUDENTs' social participation. It is also important to note that the path analysis that the dependent variables, except for association efficiency, explained 20% of the changes in social participation.
